For Parents
The short version: PingCircle is a private way for your teen to check in with how they're feeling. It works completely on its own. Adding friends is optional, and even then, nothing is public and nothing is shared unless they choose it, entry by entry.
The one-sentence version: Feelings data stays on your teen's device (and their own private iCloud storage), is never sent to a PingCircle server, and is never sold, advertised against, or used to train anything. Nothing is public. There are no strangers.
A Private Log, Not a Feed
The core action in PingCircle is a "Check In": a feeling, and optionally a word for it, what it's about, or a short note. It takes two taps. Alone, it's a private, permanent log entry that only your teen can see. There's no requirement to add anyone or share anything to use the app fully.
If your teen does add a few close friends or family to a private circle, they can choose, one entry at a time, whether that single Check In also appears in the circle's shared room. Nothing is shared by default, and sharing one entry never shares their history or patterns.
No Scores, No Diagnoses
PingCircle never runs a clinical assessment and never produces a "wellness score," a severity rating, or any interpretation of how your teen is doing. It only ever describes, plainly: "Tuesday afternoons have been harder lately," never "your anxiety is elevated." If an entry looks like it may need more than an app can offer, PingCircle gently and privately points toward real support resources: calm, dismissible, at most once a day, and never sent to anyone else, including you.
No Strangers, Ever
Circles are invite-only: people join by matching an existing phone contact or accepting a private invite link sent by someone already in the circle. There is no public profile, no search, no discovery feed, and no "suggested friends" of any kind.
Built-In Safety Tools
- Block and report are available on every social surface in the app: every circle, every member, every shared Check In.
- Age gate (COPPA): a neutral date-of-birth screen declines anyone under 13 gracefully at sign-up.
- No ads, no third-party trackers, no data selling. Feelings data is never used for advertising or analytics of any kind.
- No location, no camera-based photo sharing. There's no address book upload and no public directory to be found in.
No Streaks, No Guilt
There are no streak counters, no "don't break the chain," and no loss states anywhere in PingCircle. A gap in your teen's log just renders lighter, never as damage, never with guilt copy. Reminders, if your teen turns them on at all, are off by default, capped at once a day, and silenced in a single tap.
What Your Teen Can Actually Do
- Check in with a feeling as often as they like: private, permanent, and only visible to them.
- Optionally add a private circle of people they already know, and choose per entry whether to share it.
- See gentle, descriptive patterns emerge in their own log after a couple of weeks, never a score, never a diagnosis.
- Turn on at most one daily reminder, and silence it anytime in one tap.
- Block or report anyone in a circle, instantly, no explanation required.
